The Republican convention has been ongoing for just two days and it is already filled with all sorts of drama- Melania Trump’s plagiarised speech, Hilary Clinton being called out on her e-mail scandal and now people are getting booed off the stage. Ex-nominee and Texas senator Ted Cruz decided to sit on the fence and not support either Clinton or Donald Trump. Instead, he called out for Americans to speak and vote for their conscience.
‘Cruz: Hilary? Trump? I no know abeg, just pray and move from there.’
This lack of support did not go down well with Trump supporters who started yelling “Trump,Trump, Trump” to shout down supporters of Cruz. Things got even rowdier as some delegates had to be restrained from attacking Ted Cruz while his wife, Heidi Cruz had to be immediately led out of the floor to avoid more chaos. The reaction from the floor was unforgiving as representatives refused to look at Ted and his wife as they walked out through the Quicken Loans Arena. Jonathan Barrett, member of the republican national committee from Arkansas had this to say,
“He’s self-centered. It’s all about Cruz. All he did was ruin his political career… I think he is finished. Regan wouldn’t have done that. He endorsed Ford”
While Trump trying to downplay the incidence played it cool by tweeting-
“Wow, Ted Cruz got booed off the stage, didn’t honor the pledge! I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal!”
‘We imagine this was the face he made while tweeting that.’
Former Cruz Aide Brian Phillips however tweeted-
“Just more proof this is about submission. We were told for months Trump did not need Cruz but when he doesn’t endorse him they go apoplectic.“
The race to determine the next President of the United States continues. Who do you want to see- Hilary or Trump? Let us know in the comments.
