Rafael Nadal won his 19th Grand Slam title after he defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev 7-5 6-3 5-7 4-6 6-4 in one of the greatest US Open finals in New York.
Nadal faced a stiff battle from Medvedev to force a decider before the Spanaird banked on experience to win the tie.
Medvedev who had been booed by the crowd earlier in the tournament, was in high heavens in defeat as the fans chanted his name throughout the game.
Nadal, Federer and Djokovic have won the past 12 Grand Slams after the Spaniard lifted the trophy in New York for a fourth time.
The 33-year old in now within one of Swiss rival Roger Federer’s all-time leading tally of men’s Grand Slam victories.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Bianca Andreescu of Canada stunned Serena Williams in the final 6-3, 7-5 to lift her first Grand Slam title.
