Two days after top seed Johanna Konta was knocked out, another top seed Caroline Wozniacki
suffered a shock second-round loss to Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko yesterday in the round of 64.


The Danish world number two lost 6-4 6-2 to the 38th ranked player.

Number four Angelique Kerber defeated Sweden's Johanna Larsson 6-2 5-7 6-4 to make it to
the last 32.

Fifth seed Petra Kvitova got past China's Wang Yafan 7-5 6-3 while American Madison Keys
defeated her compatriot Bernarda Pera 6-4 6-1.

Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus defeated 2010 runner-up Vera Zvonareva 6-3 7-6 (9-7) while
another Belerusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich beat Daria Kasatkina of Russia 6-2 7-6 (7-3).

In the men’s category, five-time US Open champion Roger Federer defeated Benoit Paire of
France 7-5 6-4 6-4 under one hour 56 minutes to book a place in the next round.

Federer will next play Australia's Nick Kyrgios who needed an umpire pep talk from Mohamed
Lahyani to come from a set down to defeat Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France 4-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-
