The NBA legend was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in January along with eight other passangers, including his daughter Gianna. On Saturday Bryant was confirmed as one of nine new inductees to the basketball hall of fame. Kobe spent his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five championships and named an All-Star on 18 occasions. He retired in 2016 as the NBA’s as third on the NBA’s all-time scorers list. He also experienced international success, winning gold medals for USA in both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
“It’s an incredible accomplishment and honor, and we’re extremely proud of him,” Vanessa Bryant said speaking to ESPN on Saturday. “Every accomplishment that he had as an athlete was a stepping stone to be here.”
She went on to say its an incredibly honour of which she is very proud of him but wishes he was around to celebrate this moment.

The Bryants had three other daughters together besides Gianna. “Obviously we wish that he was here with us to celebrate,” Vanessa said. “We’re incredibly proud of him.”
