Guillermo Varela has found himself in deep trouble with club Eintracht Frankfurt and will miss the club’s DFB-Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund.
This is due to a tattoo printed to his forearm on Monday.
The 24-year-old, who is on loan from Manchester United broke the rule of coach Niko Kovac and the club doctors, going ahead to tattoo his forearm with the DFB-Pokal looming this Saturday.
“This behaviour is grossly negligent and hurts the entire team,” sporting director, Fredi Bobic said.
“The club cannot tolerate a player going against the instructions of the coach and the doctor before such an important game. Therefore, Guillermo’s path with Eintracht Frankfurt has ended with this action.”
The Professional Footballers rule allows a player to tattoo his body in the off-season as there will be enough time for the healing process.
With this action, Varela’s loan won’t be extended and he is therefore returned to Manchester United with immediate effect.
