Dove, the personal care brand owned by Unilever has been criticised for a campaign that appeared to show a black woman turning white after using a soap product.
The personal care brand has been attacked as ‘racist’ and ‘deeply ignorant’ over the images.
The images showed a woman removing her ‘black skin’ to reveal a white woman. Another image shows the white woman undressing to reveal an Asian woman.
Dove has apologised via a tweet from a spokesman. The spokesman wrote: “An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of colour thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offence it caused.”
