According to the network on Thursday, the Canadian star, Weeknd would sing “Starboy,” the first single off his upcoming album of the same name, at the internationally broadcast gala in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, as we await his tour in February starting in stockholm.

MTV also announced that the San Francisco rocker, Green Day would also play and the band will be presented the Global Icon Award in recognition of life achievement, from 1990s rebirth of punk rock to first year eligibility induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as the hit from their latest album “Revolution Radio”.

The MTV Europe Music Awards aims to reach a more international audience than the network’s signature US-based Video Music Awards.
