Saying positive affirmations everyday is a routine which a lot of people are starting to adapt to. Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome negative thoughts and negative behavior. When you often repeat positive affirmations, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes.
Some positive affirmations help you to achieve your goal; the most effective way to do these affirmations is by repeating positive goal-oriented statements starting with “I am committed to” and followed by specific measurable actions and a time frame such as “I am committed to doing 100 sit-ups everyday” or “ I am committed to writing at least one chapter of my book every night.” Repeating such statements everyday and believing them will lead you to achieving your goals.
On the other hand, other positive affirmations help you overcome low-self esteem, anxiety, depression and negative thoughts in general. They have been shown to stimulate the areas in your brain that make you more likely to effect positive changes in regard to your mental health. Daily statements such as “I am full of loving, healthy, positive and prosperous thoughts which eventually convert into my life experiences” help to improve your mental health.
You might consider affirmations to be “wishful thinking.” or unrealistic. But try looking at it this way: positive affirmations are exercises for your mind, the same way you do repetitive exercises to improve your physical health. These positive mental repetitions can reprogram your thinking patterns so that, over time, you begin to think and act differently.
There are specific positive affirmations that you can repeat for specific situations, such as affirmations for work/career, affirmations for anxiety, affirmations for love/relationships, affirmations for stress etc, you can use positive affirmations in any situation where you’d like to see a positive change take place in your life.
The power of affirmations lies in repeating them to yourself regularly. Recite your affirmations several times a day, you can even have them pop up in your notifications. You should also repeat your affirmations as soon as you engage in the negative thought or behavior that you trying to overcome.
