Former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has called it a day on his illustrious career after failing to get a new club since being released by Coventry City early this year.

The 35-year-old forward moved to England from Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel after he impressed against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions league.

Aiyegbeni went on to don the colours of Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Reading and Coventry, scoring a total of 141 goals in 367 appearances.

The Yak, as he is popularly called, has featured in 4 AFCONs and 1 World cup, netting 21 goals in 57 appearances for the country and is well remembered for his hilarious miss against South Korea at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
