Paris St-Germain sporting director Leonardo has criticised comments by Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane about PSG striker Kylian Mbappe.

Zidane recently said it was the 20-year-old France international Mbappe’s “dream to play for Real Madrid”. to which PSG chief Leonardo responded..

“Honestly, it’s a bit irritating, it’s annoying,” said Leonardo. “It’s not the first time this has happened.

“Kylian is a very important player for us. Now is not the time to destabilise him.”

Mbappe’s stock has been constantly rising since his breakthrough season for Monaco in the 15/16 campaign and then taking the world by storm with his exceptional displays at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Some might see this as the Real boss trying to play mind games as PSG play Real Madrid in their next Champions League group match on 26 November. PSG currently sit top of the group with 4 wins from 4 gathering 12 points. Madrid sit in second with 7 points. PSG have already qualified for the latter stages and we will expect Real Madrid to also leave the group. It’s all about who grabs the top spot

Leonardo added: “Mbappe is a player who has two and a half years left on his contract with us, so to talk about what he wants, his ‘dream’, every time… if we can just stop this, pause this talk.”

PSG will be looking to hang on to Mbappe for as long as possible but it will be a very tall order with the vultures circling already
